The Bike.
Kate LOVED her bike. For a few days.
Still loving it here
going to check out the bike path
The last happy shot for weeks. So she was pedaling happily along when she started down a small hill on the bike path. I was tailing her with Alex in the BOB. Suddenly she started going really fast (OK, relatively really fast) and I started to call after her "remember back for brake, Kate, back for break!) I sounded firm but not crazed because I didn't want to scare her. This part of the path drops off pretty suddenly on the side onto a bumpy hill. Kate calls it "the cliff". Well she started careening out of control and was headed right for the cliff. I (thought I) threw the BOB into park and ran after her. I caught her just as she spun out and fell and everything was fine. Until. Until I looked up the hill and saw Alex, happy as a lark, careening towards us in the (ill-parked) BOB like a bat out of hell. With my piping hot coffee in the cup holder. Well, I now believe those mama adrenaline stories you hear about moms lifting cars off their offspring etc. I sprinted up the hill and somehow caught her. Whew.During all of this, my camera was in video mode. I didn't realize this until later and laughed so hard I cried when I saw the 'tape'. It starts with me proudly saying "Kate's first ride on the bike path" and quickly cuts to a whirlwind of trees, ground, me panting and yelling and then is thrown into the grass. It ends with me going to pick it up (after rescuing Alex) hissing expletives under my breath.
I will post it sometime :-)
After that, Kate was a wreck. I had to hold her on the bike, lots of tears, etc etc. It took weeks for her to get over it. But, she did and now she loves it.
A note for Steve (picture of mama and Kate riding bikes)

Fenway Turns 100
The day after we got back from St. John, Fenway had an open house. The kids were already crazy off schedule and tired, so we figured what the hell. We had a great time!
The seat where Teddy Williams' record-breaking home run landed (more accurately where it hit a sleeping fan in the head)
My camera died after this. We spend hours looking for a place to eat (all the restaurants in the area were packed) and ended up a Tasty Burger (yes, the family of vegetarians). They actually have a really nice veggie burger and good beer.
The laundry was there when we got home and I think we all slept for 12 straight.

St. John Day 3/4
our room
Alex would have been happy climbing the stairs in the buff all day.
up and down
The view from our tour' bus' (a pick up truck with benches)
Our tour guide was a bad photographer. But, a good driver which really counted.
St. John adopted the British side of the road, but people drive American cars. So, you are driving on the 'wrong side' of the road, but the driver is on the left. My concern with that is if you are an American (and drunk and a college student), what prompts you to drive on the correct side? If the cars were different, then you would have that cue, but I am sure people must forget all of the time.
Add that quirk to lots of blind, steep corners and no seat belts in the back of a pick-up truck and you have yourself a terrifying experience. She beeped every time she went up a corner and I just held my breath (and my baby). Not something I would sign up for again. If it weren't for my afternoon Mojito, I would have been really anxious.
Our resort from above
Enjoying a virgin Pina Colada with Cy
Our last breakfast. The trip went WAY too fast
