Memorial Day: Brownington

Rover loved Kate's barn at Grammie's!
First trip to the Northeast Kingdom

Basking Butchie
Walk up to the berry farm. A rare rear shot of me that made me realize that I need to ramp up the running! Ouch!

C'mon, slow pokes.

Grammie taught the kids to play the dandelion

Tomato plants
occupational hazard
Bath time is more fun with 2 (or 3)
although Kate wasn't so sure about sharing animals...
Scott taking it all in at Lake Willoughby
Prime real estate?
Kate wanted to swim
We all wanted to go for a hike, but it was too muddy. We didn't make it far at all. Bummer. Wet spring! We also considered Wheeler, but it was also reportedly washed out at the trail head. Steve and I wouldn't have made it up there in 2004 if it had been so muddy! I wonder if he had a Plan B?
We stopped at the Tilton Diner in NH on the way home.

and got a little crazy saying good bye to Rover

Memorial Day: Calais

We spent Memorial Day in Vermont (which has become a bit of a tradition that started with Mem Day 04 when Steve proposed to me on Wheeler Mountain)This year we brought Cathel, Mark, Rover and Alexandra with us! We spent one night in Calais and one in Brownington. Here are the kids with Debi in the chicken coop.
Baby Vermonster's first trip to Vermont!

Some cows got loose and we had some free entertainment watching the farmer and his family herd them back. Apparently they had forgotten to turn the fence back on after the previous night's lightning storms. D'oh!
Lots of rain! = mud and bugs

A walk up the road to Grandma's old place. The bugs were HORRIBLE in the woods.

3 babes in packs
No, make that 4- Cathel has one baking!

Welcome to Vermont, Alexandra!

Kate and 'Rovah'

At the cafe before the Science Museum
I overheard Kate telling a stranger at the park that her best friend is named Rover. "but, he lives in Germany". We were lucky enough to have him here for 5 whole weeks in May but we miss him terribly. Kate and 'Rovah' (Kate's toddler/Boston accent) share the same exact birthday and oddly enough seem to have developmental bumps and leaps at the same time.
I guess you could say they are in sync.
