Franklin Park Zoo

We spent the last day of August at Franklin Park Zoo.  We spent the majority of our time there in the butterfly garden, which is spectacular.

Can you spot Kate?

The Garden was peaceful

We watched new butterflies emerge form their chrysalises.  The zoo keeper Kate chatted up told us they receive 500 chrysalises every week for the season (May to Sept).  They cost $5-$8 each!

Kate was convinced this was the same Monarch that her preschool released in June.

Alex loved it!  All of these pics you would think I only have one child.  Alex is always there with us!
We visited the gorillas while we were there, of course (the real ones and fake ones).

Can you see the hummingbird?

We really liked it there!  It has a real old-fashioned, laid back vibe.  I'm not usually a fan of zoos, but FPZ gets it right, I think.  It is not an amusement park/zoo and is generally very peaceful.
