We have been talking a lot about "gently" so it shouldn't have been a surprise when Kate came out with this:
Kate: "Mama? When baby sister comes I am going to throw her into the trash"
Me: "Oh, no, Kate. That isn't nice"
Kate: "OK, Mama, I am going to gently place baby sister into the trash..."
Oh, brother.
The Baby Chain. We made a chain to represent all of the days left until Christmas ans it worked really well, so I decided to do another one for the baby. We spent a long time cutting, pasting, stickering and coloring baby sister's chain. When we hung it up, Kate seemed pretty relieved and said "Wow, Mama, there are a lot of days left!"
We set up the Co-Sleeper and Kate calls it "The Baby Nest". She understands she used to sleep there and likes to regress a bit before bedtime. I thought it was a good idea to set it up early so that she would be tired of it before its new resident actually needs it!
"Mama, let me paint your belly. Baby sister would really like that"
"and mine will match"
I don't think K is ready to give up the baby seat...
Nursing Mama's nose. I told Kate the story of how she latched on to my nose in the delivery room right after she was born. I had her up near my face to kiss her and her little mouth opened wide and latched right on. For weeks afterwards, she would latch on if I held her in front of my nose (too bad she wasn't as skilled at latching on to the real thing!). Well, Kate loves this story and has been nursing my nose every chance she gets. It is very endearing but also kinda slimy.... She wonders if baby sis will do the same?
T-7 Days!!!
