1st Day of Preschool

Kate started preschool this month! We both took her (on the bus) after a somewhat teary morning (for mama and Kate...). Kate told me: "Mama, if you miss me, close your eyes and remember what I look like". I tried to hold it together, but it was difficult. Steve thought we were both a little ridiculous, I think...

That is the face of confidence
Kate and Papa's bus stop. Steve will be taking Kate on the bus (it is on the way to Harvard Sq) to school. I think Kate thinks that is the best part.
Kate's school bus: the good ole 77
The first day went well. She didn't cry at all when we left and was engaged in playing. She gave us a look that said 'this isn't real, is it?' It sunk in later in the AM and the teacher said she had some teary moments. She didn't want to leave when I picked her up though!
Day #2. She stalled less in the AM and was happy she was going alone with Papa (we want to get into the habit of just Steve taking her so when baby sis arrives, there isn't a change in routine). She told mama to stay home and "do mama chores. They aren't fun..."

Bye, Mama! It was so hard to see papa and Kate leave. Empty nest!! Although it won't be empty for long...
Kate had some trouble separating form Papa once they got there. The teachers said that she was better the rest of the day, however. It will be a process.

A little regression after school. I set up the co-sleeper and Kate calls it the baby nest. She knows baby sis will be in there, but she wants to remember when she was the baby...
All in all, a good first week. She will be going 2x a week from 8:30-noon. Hopefully she will love it and it will give her a break from what I am sure will be a chaotic house next month. BUT, we spent the weekend after her first week in urgent care with a feverish little girl. Her first sick visit to the pedi! She has an ear infection and is now on a 10 day course of antibiotics... She missed school today. Welcome to school, I suppose :-(
