Topsfield Fair

We went to the Topsfield Fair with Charlie, Carla, and Madeline. The fair is known for its giant pumpkin contest and for being the oldest fair in NE. It was very crowded compared to the fairs we went to this summer up in VT!! We are spoiled. We had a good time though, especially on the rides...

It was one crazy bus...

Uncle Jake's Visit

Uncle Jake was in town the same weekend Reed and Debi were, so we all met at Drumlin Farm for some October Harvest fun. So, Grandma, Bubba, Jake, Grandpapa, Grandma Henny, and Mama and Papa all had a great time with Kate!

Grandma and Kate

They were selling apple cider and donuts form Shelburne Farms, Stow MA (where we went apple picking). Not as good here as they were there, but still nice!!

Habitat Belmont Walk

Arlington Family Connection (we are members even though we don't live in Arlington...) hosted a tot walk at Habitat Audubon Nature Center in Belmont. The concept was simple yet brilliant: all of the flowers, etc are dying, so let's let toddlers run through the gardens and touch and pull and trample whatever they would like. Perfect! So after a summer of "oh, look, but don't touch" Kate had to get used to "go for it". It didn't take long.... The herb garden. They were encouraged to pick and touch and smell everything. It was wonderful! The guides were very knowledgeable.

I wish I could remember all of the herbs....

They also gave them sticks and let them dig in the compost piles. Kate loved finding worms, etc. I pretended to be thrilled.

The gardens are so gorgeous there. We need to return in the spring for sure.

Kate played chase through the gardens and was squealing with delight. What a perfect day!
