Drumlin Farm School

We have had so much fun at "Farm School" at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA this fall. We meet once a week for an hour and have milked a cow, fed sheep, pigs, chickens and goats, held a chick, gathered eggs, met an owl, bunny, and a family of mice, made butter, etc etc! A lot of firsts for both Kate and Mama. We can't wait to do it again in the spring.
Foliage at its peak. I don't think I have ever seen such spectacular foliage! The car ride up Rt. 2 past Walden Pond to the farm must be one of the finest foliage routes in Mass. It was honestly intoxicating.

There are a lot of pics in this post.....I tried to keep the number to a minimum but it was hard!

Hayride

Kate got a hold of my camera. "Smile Mama!"

We have some work to do...

This is when I wish I had a fancy camera

Cow milking! It was hard to get pics. What an experiance! Kate was even able to get a squirt.

Grandma Henny and Grandpa Reed Visit

Sticker book #2. The best thing ever. She still needs some help finding the correct pages, but she has gotten so good at it! We will have to get another one when baby sister comes...

We took a trip to the Children's Museum with Reed and Debi. Good times!

Grandpa.....

Bubbles!

Kate took a short nap when they were here; too much fun to be had.

Butchie and his friends/family.

Some down time with Grandpa while mama went out shopping

Grandma bought her the Knuffle Bunny DVD. A real treat!

The afternoon catching up with them

Uncle Davis came over for dinner

Thanks for all of the pics, Debi!

Kate being Kat

We were getting a lot of laughs from passer-bys on Mass Ave one afternoon and I couldn't figure out why. Then I saw Kate had pulled her cat hat over her eyes. What a goof! She cracked herself up.

Peek

Even though her cat hat is sized 12-24 months, she still loves to wear it. I wish I could find a bigger size....

Chef Kate

Kate Quote of the Month:

"Papa, maybe next time you will cooperate" After papa buckled her into her high chair (which SHE likes to do her own self...)

Butchie's Bed

Mama and Kate found a bed for Butchie at IKEA. Kate has been very caring to him, tucking him in, nursing him to sleep, reading to him, and taking care of him when he is sick. Bed time stories. Poor Butchie is getting forced out of his own bed by his animal friends....

Kate doesn't fit in the bed. "Not quite, Mama."

But she still tries.

Butchie was fussy going down so needed to be nursed to sleep.

Butchie was sick so Kate read to him and tucked him in.

Butchie also got a new potty!

Belly Shots

Kate says she will read to Baby Sister. She thinks she will like Golden Books

Is there anything more liberating than running in the rain shirtless at 6 months pregnant??!

Farm School

We started "Farm School" at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln. It runs one hour every Thursday for 8 weeks. So far, it has been fantastic! Here are pics from the second session. They made collages out of leaves and took a nature walk. The week before they made pig puppets and fed the pigs (and watched them roll around in mud- a toddlers' delight). There are 10 2-year olds and their moms/dads.

Kate was very proud of her collage and was the only kid to hold onto it the whole class.

She never let it go!

It is so beautiful there this time of year
Mud puddles!
We usually stay for an hour or so after class and have a picnic.
