Up at the crack of dawn and ready to go
On the ferry to St. John from St. Thomas
Getting there was fine. Not the best flight for Alex, but not awful. We survived. It was all a distant memory by 2PM
Both girls rushed into the ocean without hesitation
I made them wear these when Steve wasn't there, but Kate did well without them. Her swimming classes are paying off!

Going to Trunk Bay
What a shame to have to go home. The flight was OK. Alex fell asleep on me for a bit and then the 20 something next to me called for an attendant and made the noisiest potato chip and blanket transaction of all time. My horrified look and his girlfriend hissing at him did not deter him in the least. So, when my kid woke up on fire as he settled in with his blanket, I did not feel bad. At all. Someday that kid will have a kid and think of me and say, wow, I was an ass. At least I hope he will. But, it did give me moral license to not feel bad for the rest of the flight, so maybe it was for the best. "Oh, I understand why you are screaming for not THAT crayon but the OTHER one.. you are tired! You didn't nap, did you, you poor thing?
The Boston Marathon bombing happened while we were away. We had limited news. We came home to Logan to find Staties armed with semi-automatic weapons and were then ordered to 'shelter in place' the next day during the manhunt. Pretty insane stuff. I am grateful that the kids were totally oblivious and never knew about it. In a few years, that will change.
