Ducks in a Row

One evening in the bath, Kate announced she didn't want to get out until she put all of her "ducks in a row". Steve swears he has never used that expression around her and nor have I. Hilarious! I guess Steve's genes are being expressed again...
She also puts the tiger in there "In case the ducks need help". It is now a ritual before we get out of the bath.

Benjamin Arthur King

Kate has a new cousin! Josh, Missy, and Johnny welcomed baby Ben on Sept 15th. Only 9lbs, 1 ounce!

I will get some pics of them soon (I didn't want to subject Miss to my camera, although she looked fabulous)

Kate and Johnny while they waited to go to the hospital.

007

We took a break from the heat and went to the Children's Museum (the big kids are back in school thank god!). While we were waiting for our friends, Kate posed for an impromptu 007-esque photo shoot

Freeze!

Looking for ducks
She loves the construction zone. "Just like Mass Ave, Mama!" Here is the jackhammer

She knew exactly how to use it...
Driving the Bobcat came naturally, too.

Dress up

Kate LOVES to try on my clothes. I let her pack and unpack (and pack and unpack...) the suitcase in which I will be storing all of the pre-pregnancy clothes that will not fit this winter (and, let me be honest, pre-Kate era clothes that may never fit me again...)

Like these size 2 Calvin Klein jeans :-(

Kate came across the bra I wore under my wedding gown and decided it was perfect for nursing Butchie. Definitely NEVER thought it would be used for these purposes!
After nursing, this mama was ready for some fun...red heels from Siobhan's wedding!
"Butchie, get me my wine"

She did well walking in them (better than her mama probably)

Off to find the party

Playin' around

Johnny and Jaime pay a visit

My little ham Kate and Johnny

New toy: lacing beads. She loves them! I can't believe she can actually do it!

She said "mama, I am very proud"

Kate loves to play hide and seek. In her version of the game, she runs and hides and then covers her eyes, so when she is found she is surprised. Interesting. Here she is with Liam, the son of old friends of mine.

She likes to lick the pinwheel instead of blowing on it...

or kiss it

Butchie goes for a ride

Should we rename her Stephanie Cherington or what? She looks sooo much like Steve when he was a kid

Kate and Butchie try out the tractor. Kate is really into tractors right now (and even insisted on listening to "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" on the radio....).

Rachel and Adam's Wedding

We went to Lake George, NY for Steve's cousin Rachel's Wedding. Kate had a blast! That girl loves to dance. She was pretty good in the car for the 5 hour drive (although not as good as these pics would lead you to believe...)

They had a bonfire and marshmallows for the kids. Cousin Henry made Kate a perfectly cooked one, but she thought the whole idea was "too sticky"
Plop.
Henry rescued it
Kate and cousin Waydon. Some brilliant person brought a bubble machine. Kate could barely contain herself.

Kate went up to the head table to grab some balloons "I need these, OK? You don't mind?"

Crash at the end of the night
A trip to the beach the next day. She looks happy that she didn't over-do it the night before....

Kate loves weddings. She tells me that at her wedding, everyone will wear a bride dress (even Papa and Rover). There will be no food served, everyone will dance, and only drink iced coffee. Maybe Dunkin Donuts will sponsor it so we can get off the hook.....
Oh, and she is marrying Mama and Papa, of course.
