22 months

Milestones this month

Dare I say it? Kate now uses the potty! We have had a few weeks of success at home and on the road and she only wears a diaper during naps and at nighttime. She still can't get out of her crib so that will be for a while, I think. We are so proud of her!
She is out of her training pants and into "big girl" underwear (her favorite are the purple ones with pics of monkeys on them...).

Has become a nudist. I have started putting her sleep sack on backwards so she won't strip in her crib (and then yell, I naked! I naked)...

Counting to 20 or so

Enjoying 'reading' her books. She remembers a lot of words from the story and likes to read them by herself.

Developing a great sense of humor. She likes to make fun of and tease mama the most.

Went to cousin Johnny's 1st birthday party and celebrated Grandpa Reed's birthday in VT.

Had a great visit from Grammie and Scott. Loves "Grammie Jam" and how cool it is on her face...

Visited her first "sugar place" in VT and watched maple syrup being made! It was really cool (her mom's first time also!). Debi will send pics soon. We left with a 1/2 gallon of the best fancy grade maple syrup I have ever tasted. Now what to do with a 1/2 gallon of syrup? Kate will help, I am sure.

Fav activity? Reading in the buff

Kate requires Butch, Bunny, Tex, Doggie, and Bug for sleeping. She sings them all a good night song: "Good-night, Butchie, Good-night Butchie", and so on.

Kate's potty layer. She likes to read her potty books, especially "Everyone Poops" . I have slightly changed REM's "Everybody Hurts" into a companion song...

I put Kate into bed with Steve while I made breakfast and returned to a very proud, and very naked, toddler yelling, "I naked!"

Bubbles! Kate's favorite room at the Children's Museum. She described it to Steve as "I wear raincoat, get messy and wash hands. Bubbles."

Kate and her buddy Rover

Is there anything better?

Loves her shades.

Trip to VT. It was warm but they still had a few feet of snow to play with. Kate loves "mud season"!
Kate loves Frederica the cat. "Freddy" is very tolerant and fun.

Kate at the library during "Toddler Time"

When asked to smile, Kate scrunches up her face tightly and flashes her teeth. I guess that is her perception of other people when they smile?

Life with a toddler part X... one day during lunch Kate expressed her urgent need to use the potty, so I let her down and left her alone to her business...when I came out of the kitchen, I discovered that she had dragged the potty, Butchie, AND her lunch to a more comfortable spot.
