We went to Lake George, NY for Steve's cousin Rachel's Wedding. Kate had a blast! That girl loves to dance. She was pretty good in the car for the 5 hour drive (although not as good as these pics would lead you to believe...)
They had a bonfire and marshmallows for the kids. Cousin Henry made Kate a perfectly cooked one, but she thought the whole idea was "too sticky"
Plop.
Henry rescued it
Kate and cousin Waydon. Some brilliant person brought a bubble machine. Kate could barely contain herself.
Kate went up to the head table to grab some balloons "I need these, OK? You don't mind?"
Crash at the end of the night
A trip to the beach the next day. She looks happy that she didn't over-do it the night before....
Kate loves weddings. She tells me that at her wedding, everyone will wear a bride dress (even Papa and Rover). There will be no food served, everyone will dance, and only drink iced coffee. Maybe Dunkin Donuts will sponsor it so we can get off the hook.....
Oh, and she is marrying Mama and Papa, of course.

Swan Boats, Make Way for Ducklings, Carousel and Frog Pond with Grandma
We took Grandma with us to The Common to see all of the things Kate has been telling her about. They had a blast!
Swan boats
Make Way for Ducklings
Kate was thrilled to nab the frog. Now just the teacups left!
She seems to have papa's sensitive eyes...I tried to get her to take off the shades for a pic, but she wouldn't have it.

Mama's Birthday
Kate and I spent a leisurely day at Walden Pond for my 31st Birthday. When asked, Kate says I am 41. We need to work on that...
Papa brought home sushi (the kind I can eat while pregnant...) and the best cake ever: a frozen yogurt cake from JP Licks!! Kate was dissapointed, however. I asked her if she wanted a piece of cake and she of course said yes. But, when I gave her a slice and she took the first bite, she cried and yelled "this isn't cake!!" . I took it away and asked her if she wanted some ice cream. She said yes and then happily ate the 'cake'. I love how literal toddlers are!
Kate isn't a huge fan of ice cream though (gasp). She says it is too cold. So much for my dreams of my kid dragging me to JP Licks every day. I still have to eat in solitude most of the time because Steve doesn't like it much, either. Maybe baby #2 will....

Walden Pond: Learning to Swim
At the beginning of the summer, Kate loved to run right into the water (up to her neck!), but suddenly she became pretty fearful of being in deeper than her toes. I found this life preserver at Target and figured it was worth a try (it did after all have monkeys on it). It did the trick! Kate loves it and it enables her to float all around without being scared. Here are some pics of the first trial with it
Getting some energy...
Getting her nerve up
Holding on to mama for a while
Launched! |
Off to find new adventures She was in for almost an hour and had to be bribed to come out...She loves the water like her mama! |

Random BlackBerry Pics Summer 2010
I have been very bad about having my Canon on me this summer...Unfortunately my BB camera isn't great, but better these than nothing!
Kate loves to line up her animals in the bath tub. She narrates pretty elaborate stories, usually involving mamas, papas, and babies.

A visit to North Weymouth to see Nana
Her favorite thing to do this summer: Carousel in Boston Common. She had ridden the frog, the rabbit, the cat, a horse, and is planning on riding in the teacup next time.
